Your Provider
I built this practice because I kept seeing a familiar pattern with ambitious, high-functioning professionals.
Accomplished. Driven. Privately carrying something that nobody around them could see because they were too capable to look like they were struggling. They have been to providers before, tried medications that did not help at all, worked partially or stopped working. They have been told it was stress, or burnout, or just the demands of a busy life. Nobody had looked beneath the surface long enough to find what was actually there.
I am Tashaniyi Byrd, PMHNP-BC. My background spans critical care medicine, psychiatric treatment, ketamine-assisted care, and focus and attention management. That breadth shapes how I practice. I do not see mental health in isolation from physical health. I see a nervous system that is shaped by everything, biology, history, environment, relationships, and the relentless pace of a life built for everyone else.

I use both conventional medicine and the wisdom of complementary practice because I believe the answers are not always found in a prescription. Sometimes they are found in what the body is missing. Sometimes they are found in nature. And sometimes they are found in finally giving someone the space, the time, and the clinical attention to be seen as the whole person they are.
Aurelia was created for those who deserve care that's as sophisticated as they are. Not a 15-minute appointment and a prescription. A partnership where they feel seen, supported, and cared for in a way that is thoughtful, evidence-based, personalized, and willing to look deeper.
Collaborative Care
If you are already working with a therapist, I believe psychiatric care should support and complement that work. When appropriate, I collaborate to help create a more cohesive treatment plan while remaining respectful of each provider’s role.
